Sterling Silver care
To prevent your sterling silver from tarnishing, keep it away from harsh chemicals, keep it dry, store it correctly, and clean and polish when needed. Take it off when washing your hands or swimming, and keep it in a secure bag or box when you’re not wearing it. You also want to take it off when exercising.
The best way to clean sterling silver is to use a gentle cleaning solution like a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda or a specialized silver cleaner. You can also use a soft cloth and mild dish soap with warm water for a quick clean.
Copper Jewelry care
You can keep your new copper jewelry clean by occasionally washing it with lukewarm, soapy water and afterwards drying it with a soft cloth. You can also clean it by simply using a little copper polish on a soft cloth.
When not being worn, store your copper jewelry in plastic bags to keep it from tarnishing.
If your copper jewelry should tarnish, you can clean it using a combination of salt and vinegar. A combination of salt and vinegar reduces oxidation from copper. Simply pour a little vinegar and salt over the copper, rub it into the metal and keep rubbing to remove any tarnishing and grime. Rinse off with water and rub dry with a soft cloth. Alternatively, you can also clean tarnish off your copper jewelry with lemon juice. Cut a lemon in half, add a little salt to the lemon and rub over the copper until all tarnish is removed. Rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth.
